Explore your career - Fan Coordinator (Excel)

Did you know that 40 percent of the advertised positions in sports are for marketing and promotion? A marketing graduate hired as a basketball fan coordinator would use Excel to keep track of the income and expenses for coordinated halftime activities at professional events. These worksheets would provide valuable information for promoting sponsors' products and services at games. A fan coordinator might start out as unpaid intern, but after graduation could expect to earn from $25,000 to $45,000. (O'Leary EX1.77)

Based on your career option, how would you be utilizing Excel? How would you use some Excel concepts (ex: Range, Formula, Relative Reference, Recalculation, etc...) to help better your reports? (At least 5 sentences please)

  1. I am a Medical assistant, presently enrolled in the Nursing program. The question is how can I utilize excel in my field and for my personal use. Excel can be used for many purposes. In the medical field excel definitely can organize patients schedule by time, age, new patients, old patients, and by other categories. For my personal use I can create a personal budget, which will help me manage my monthly expenses (car payment, insurance, rent, food, credit card payment).

  2. I would use excel to organize my routes and amounts of mileage if I work in home healthcare. I could also use excel to calculate conversions and keep tabs on conversions throughout my day at the hospital. Also, I could use excel to simple organize and keep tabs on my paychecks. I would be able to calculate how much percentage will be taken out of my check before I receive it and how much I'd receive in net income based on my hourly pay and the amount of hours I've worked for the pay period.

  3. As a registered nurse excel would come in handy when it comes to bettering my reports. Excel can be used to document the costs of medication and supplies throughout the year. There are certain times of the year where more patients come in and the demand for supplies increase. As a nurse I can use excel to keep track of the money spent for the demand of supplies and medications to cure the incoming patients. Therefore, excel will definitely be of use to getting my reports done.

  4. My career choice would be a nurse therefore I could use excel to keep track of my earnings as well as expenses. I could input my salary and expenses monthly and see where my earnings would be going. I could then create a formula to show how much of an increase or decrease I make yearly. I would then be able to omit the unnecessary expenses I have and have more of an increase in earnings. My goal is also to further my education in the field and I would also be able to see the increase, if any, to my earnings.

  5. I would utilize excel during my Nursing career to calculate the amount of patients that I have throughout the day. I can also use it to figure out Income and expenses. It could also be useful for keeping records of my patients and their medications. Since they may need to keep a count on beds available I would use excel also to manage that. Keeping up with the amount of days my patients have been in the hospital by using excel would really help out also. Last but not least I can use it to keep up on hours nurses have worked.

  6. As a Registered Nurse, I would use excel to report my patients medication schedules. I would use it to better analyze the different doses and types of medication that would need to be given at the appropriate times. Excel also would benefit my job, by helping me keep tabs on the patients with special care. That would require taking notes on how many times the patient urinated or had a bowel movement. Excel is pretty much a great way to keep organized, and maintain a lot of information while working in your choice of field.

  19. I currently do n ot use EXCEL as my office utilizes an EHR for most patient info. However it can be useful to track patient scheduling as well as keeping track of the co-payment collections via cash or credit card. At the end of the day the total sum of the daily cash flow can be tallied up for accounting records.

  20. My career choice is nursing. In this field of study one can use excel for payroll and to assign different tasks for each employee. For example, if there is a potluck going on and each person has an assigned dish to bring and also has to contribute money to the “emergency box”, everything will be organized on the spreadsheet with the person’s name, dish, amount given and the date. This helps with any confusion and to avoid two of the same items at the event. It can then be posted on display at the nurse’s station and be discussed daily.
